Eat Enlightened Review! 7 Flavors!

A few weeks ago, I got chosen as the winner of the Eat Enlightened photo contest on Instagram and won 7 free pints of Eat Enlightened! For those of you who do not know, Eat Enlightened is a healthy ice cream brand with delicious flavors! All of their flavors are high in protein, low in sugar and super yummy! Since it is a healthy ice cream, it will be quite hard texture-wise at first, so I recommend letting them soften on the counter for about 10 minutes before digging in.

I had only tried one flavor prior to winning the contest, so I was extremely excited to be able to try and review 7 more flavors! I would also like to thank Eat Enlightened for this gift as it was very generous of them and I am extremely grateful! Now on with the reviews!

Disclaimer: Even though I received these pints free of cost, I will still be giving my honest opinion about each of these flavors.

  • 7. Strawberry Cheesecake: 4/10

If you have been reading my posts for a while now, you know that I am a hardcore chocoholic. When I eat dessert, 99 times out of 100 chocolate is involved and I like it that way. For that reason, I am not that crazy about this flavor, simply because it does not have any chocolate. The cheesecake base is very nice, not too bland and definitely reminds me of cheesecake. It also has a smooth, creamy texture and is not icy at all. The strawberry swirl is basically strawberry jam and is good, but I am just not a ‘fruit person’. If they added chocolate shavings or a chocolate swirl, this flavor could easily score a 7/10, but they didn’t so I don’t think I will be trying this flavor again.

  • 6. Bananas Foster 5/10

Eat Enlighten’s take on Bananas Foster is banana ice cream with a caramel swirl. Once again, no chocolate here. The banana ice cream is good if you like banana ice cream that is, but I am not a huge fan. However, I will still probably end up finishing off the pint because the flavor is not bad.. and the caramel swirl. The caramel swirl is delicious and tastes just like the ones in Ben & Jerry’s ice cream! It is also very abundant and they did not skimp on that at all!

  • 5. Snickerdoodle 6/10

I actually liked this flavor quite a bit considering the lack of chocolate and mix ins 😦 Eat Enlightened did a great job balancing the cinnamon and sweetness to make an ice cream that resembles a snickerdoodle cookie. If you are like me and need toppings or mix ins in your ice cream, I highly recommend pairing this flavor with a Lenny & Larry’s Snickerdoodle protein cookie!

  • 4. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip 8/10

Finally a flavor with chocolate! I really enjoyed the peanut butter base, wasn’t too strong wasn’t too bland. It also didn’t taste like that nasty powdered peanut butter stuff. But, the real star of the show here was the chocolate shavings… They were evenly spread out through the pint and there were so many of them!! This way I got a good amount of chocolate in every single bite, despite the base not being chocolate. I will definitely be purchasing this flavor again!

  • 3. Triple Chocolate 8/10

This flavor was the first Eat Enlightened product I ever tried and is the one I won their contest with! It is a chocolate ice cream with a chocolate swirl and chocolate shavings. If you are not a hardcore chocoholic like me, this flavor will probably seem overwhelming and is not for you. I really liked that there was a lot of mix-ins (chocolate shavings and chocolate syrup for this flavor) and they did not skimp on them like most healthy ice creams do! My one complaint is the sugar alcohol taste is slightly evident, however not too noticeable.

  • 2. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough 9.5/10

Wow. I was not really expecting to like this flavor since the base is vanilla (yes I discriminate against vanilla ice cream) but boy was I surprised! The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is a vanilla based ice cream with lots of chocolate shavings (same amazing ones as the PB Chocolate Chip flavor!) and huge gobs of cookie dough! As you know from reading the above reviews, I LOVE the chocolate shavings and they make the vanilla base way less noticeable! And cookie dough chunks.. I just tried Halo Tops’s version of this flavor and wasn’t too impressed (the base tasted a little funky and the cookie dough chunks were very small), so I was expecting the same baby sized chunks but no, these were huge! And delicious too! Bravo Eat Enlightened!

  • 1. Caramel Oatmeal Cookie Crunch 10/10

I had seen this flavor online but not in stores, so I was stoked when I received it in the mail! This ice cream definitely lives up to my high expectations about it and is overall my favorite flavor, despite the fact that IT HAS NO CHOCOLATE!! If that doesn’t say anything then you clearly do not know me that well. The Caramel Cookie Crunch is a caramel ice cream with a caramel swirl and tons of oatmeal cookie clusters!! I never used to like caramel or caramel flavored things very much until I tried the Ben & Jerry’s Vegan Coffee Caramel ice cream.. And now I can’t get enough of it. The caramel flavor is very evident throughout which I love, and the mix ins are very abundant! Overall, I highly recommend this flavor, but more importantly I recommend you give Eat Enlightened a try whether you are trying to eat healthy or not!!
